Nike Releases Footwear With All-Foam Bottom

Nike has unveiled their first shoe with an all-foam sole. The sole was made by a new foam technology called React. The shoe– named Nike Epic React Flyknit— is a running shoe with an all foam sole and a knitted upper which makes it ideal for lightweight running.

The React foam technology was first launched in the Nike basketball shoe last year but with that shoe, the foam was covered with an outer layer to give basketball players the stability they need especially during jumps. The new Nike Epic React Flyknit is the first shoe with bottoms made entirely of foam.

This new shoe technology will most likely start a new line of shoes at Nike with all-foam bottoms. Nike says that they tested React technology in more than 17,000 miles of running and it delivers 13 percent more energy returns than their last version of the Nike Lunarlon Foam.

The shoe will officially launch on February 22 and although pricing hasn’t been announced yet, reports say that it should cost between $150 and $200.
